Languages

The languages Nametag is translated into, and how the language a person sees is chosen.

Nametag is written in English and translated into nine other languages. The translations cover what people read in the Nametag app, in the verification flow in a browser, in the Nametag console, and in the notifications Nametag sends by push, SMS, and email.

How the language is chosen

In a browser, Nametag reads the languages the browser asks for in its Accept-Language header and uses the first one it has. In the Nametag app for iOS and Android, the language follows the language the phone is set to. A person who asks for a language that is not on this list is served English.

There is nothing to configure and nothing to choose per account: one verification link works in every language, and two people who open the same link each read it in their own.

Every language is complete

There is no partly translated language. Every message a person can see is translated into every language above, and a build fails on a message a language is missing, or one whose English text changed after it was translated. A new language is translated in full before it appears here.
