Nametag Integration for Dover
Automatically verify new hires' identities when they are marked as hired in Dover.
Overview
The Nametag and Dover integration enables organizations to automatically verify the identities of new hires. When a candidate is marked as hired in Dover, Nametag sends them a secure identity verification request — helping confirm that the person you hired is who they claim to be before they receive access to company systems.
The integration is one-directional: Nametag reads hired candidates from Dover and delivers verification requests to them. Nametag does not write any data back into Dover.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the integration, ensure you have:
- An active Nametag account
- A Dover API key with access to your company’s jobs and candidates. You can generate an API key in Dover under Settings → API Key.
Setup
Step 1: Generate a Dover API key
- In Dover, go to Settings.
- Select API Key.
- Generate a new API key and copy it. You will need it in the next step.
Keep this key secret — it grants access to your Dover jobs and candidates.
Step 2: Connect Dover in the Nametag Console
- In the Nametag Console, go to Configure.
- In the left sidebar, select Integrations.
- Select Add Integration and choose Dover.
- Paste your Dover API key.
- Choose the delivery channel used to reach candidates (for example, email or SMS).
- Select Connect.
Once connected, Nametag validates the API key against Dover and begins monitoring your hired candidates.
How it works
After the integration is connected, verification is triggered automatically when a candidate is marked as hired in Dover.
- A candidate progresses through the hiring pipeline in Dover and is marked as hired.
- Nametag periodically checks Dover for newly hired candidates.
- For each new hire, Nametag creates an identity verification request and sends the candidate a secure verification link through the configured delivery channel.
- The candidate opens the link and completes identity verification (government-issued photo ID and a live selfie).
- Nametag records the verification outcome.
Each candidate is verified only once. Nametag tracks which candidates have already been sent a request, so re-running the check does not send duplicate requests.
Viewing results
Verification results are held in Nametag. To review the outcome of a verification:
- In the Nametag Console, open the request or the Dover integration details page.
- Review the verification status and details for each hired candidate.
Because the integration is one-directional, verification results are not written back into Dover — they live in Nametag.
Removing the integration
You can disconnect the Dover integration at any time from the Nametag Console.
To remove the integration:
- In the Nametag Console, go to Configure.
- In the left sidebar, select Integrations.
- Locate the Dover integration.
- Select Remove.
Once disconnected, Nametag will stop monitoring your Dover hired candidates and will no longer send verification requests. No changes are made to your Dover account.
